Dr. Franziska Reich was born in Stuttgart in 1988 and studied musicology and German literature in Freiburg (Bachelor of Arts) as well as Editionswissenschaft und Textkritik in Heidelberg (Master of Arts). In 2021 she took her doctorate with a dissertation on Max Reger’s compositional process and his sketches for the Clarinet Quintet in A major op. 146 at the University of Zurich.
Her doctoral research was funded by a grant from the Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur Mainz (2017–2018). She then worked as an Assistant at the Musicology Institute of the University of Zurich (2018–2020). From 2020 to 2023 she has been a research associate at the research project “Christoph Willibald Gluck – Complete Edition” at the Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur Mainz. Since 2023 she is a research associate at the New Schubert Edition (Tübingen).
Besides the music of Franz Schubert, Christoph Willibald Gluck and Max Reger, her areas of interest include edition philology as well as sketch studies on 19th and 20th century music.
